Frames

The analog photography app where film meets digital.

Description

Frames is a focused, minimal tool for film photographers. It is not about filters or digital effects. It is designed for those who still shoot on film and want a simple way to stay organised while keeping the process enjoyable and distraction free.

You begin by adding your cameras, lenses and film stocks. These become building blocks you can combine into setups that match how you actually shoot. The recorder lets you log your frames quickly, one-handed, while shooting. Record aperture, shutter speed, notes, GPS location and more. Add details per frame or per roll. Frames adapts to your flow.

Each session creates a roll. Over time, your rolls form a clean archive that reflects your work and gear history. You can view, search and filter them to find what you need. When it's time to move your data elsewhere, export your rolls as .gpx files or .frames files. The .frames format is a lightweight JSON export that preserves all the data and can be re-imported or used in your own workflows.

On the Mac, Frames gives you a broader view of your archive. It is especially useful after scanning, when you want to bring your notes back into your images. The Mac app lets you embed your data as metadata in the final files, so your aperture, shutter and notes travel with the image. This makes it easier to manage projects, organise your archive and keep a record of how each photo was made.

Frames respects your time and attention. There are no accounts, no feeds, no artificial prompts to share. Everything lives on your device. It is a quiet companion, built to support your practice rather than shape it.

Photographers use Frames in different ways. Some use it to test lenses or film stocks. Others rely on it for travel or long-term projects. Some log every frame, others just the ones that matter. The goal is not to be exhaustive but to give structure where it helps and freedom where it matters.

Frames is available on iPhone and Mac. The Pro plan unlocks advanced exports and Mac metadata integration. But the core experience is for everyone, a clear, focused tool that helps film photographers stay organised, reflect on their work and preserve the stories behind their images.
