SEO Buddy Review: One SEO Platform for AI Content, Reddit Threads and Link Building

If you run a small business website, you know how SEO usually goes. You sign up for a keyword tool, export a spreadsheet of 3,000 keywords, and then stare at it. Which ones can you actually rank for? Who writes the articles? Where do the links come from? And somewhere in the middle of that, you notice that half the questions your customers ask on Google are answered by a Reddit thread, not by a blog post.

Most SEO tools solve one slice of that. A research tool tells you what to write. An AI writer writes it. An outreach tool sends emails. A marketplace sells guest posts. You end up paying for four subscriptions and doing the glue work yourself.

SEO Buddy takes a different approach. It bundles five products under one account: an AI Content Engine, Reddit Marketing, a Link Building Campaign tool, a Guest Blog Database and the Link Chest. Each one is sold on its own, so you only pay for the parts you use. I went through all five, plus the free learning material, to see which parts earn their place and where it still falls short.

What You're Getting

SEO Buddy is a web app. There's nothing to install, apart from an optional official WordPress plugin for publishing. The team has been building it since 2018, and a free account already includes the SEO Checklist (122 steps), the SOP Collection (66 procedures) and full search access to the Guest Blog Database.

The five paid products cover the three things that actually move rankings: content, authority and visibility where people search. Here's how they split:

  • AI Content Engine plans, writes, illustrates and publishes articles for your blog.

  • Reddit Marketing finds the Reddit, YouTube, Quora and other threads Google ranks for your keywords, and drafts replies.

  • Link Building Campaign finds link prospects and their contacts, and runs a three-email outreach sequence from your own mailbox.

  • Guest Blog Database is a marketplace of 113,357 sites that accept guest posts, with prices on every listing.

  • Link Chest is a curated list of 2,454 easy-to-win backlink opportunities, with step-by-step guides.

On top of that, there's a free education layer that a lot of paid tools don't bother with. SEO University has 79 free lessons across ten topics, from getting started to technical SEO, and doesn't require an account. My SEO Journey collects 174 first-person stories from founders and marketers about what worked and what didn't. The Reddit Marketing Guide is a six-part, roughly 50-minute read on getting customers from Reddit without getting banned. If you're new to SEO, start there before you spend a dollar.

AI Content Engine: Where It Earns Its Keep

Every AI writer can produce an article now. The hard part is deciding which article is worth writing, and that's the part the AI Content Engine automates.

Setup reads your site for you. Seven screens, most of them pre-filled from an AI read of your website: what you sell (in priority order), your best articles, your sitemap, tone, pictures, pace. There's also a field for what you don't sell, which the engine treats as a hard boundary. That small detail stops the classic AI-writer failure of recommending a product you don't offer.

The keyword research is the real product. It works from your Google Search Console data (optional but strongly recommended), your sitemap and the pages your competitors rank with. It drops zero-click keywords, and it measures difficulty against what your own site already ranks for rather than an abstract score. The example SEO Buddy shows publicly went from 4,473 keywords found, to 600 worth a look, to 100 live results read, to 12 shortlisted, in under ten minutes. That funnel is exactly the spreadsheet work I usually do by hand.

Then the calendar fills itself. Each shortlisted topic gets a title, a format and a brief on a 30-day calendar, tagged as a clear win, a solid pick or a stretch. Articles are written the day before they're due, with a quotable opening answer, infographics set in real type in your brand colours, charts, a featured image, internal links from your sitemap, an FAQ block, and a meta description and focus keyword for Yoast, Rank Math or AIOSEO.

You review before anything goes live. Every article gets a private preview page styled like your own site. It publishes as a draft, or automatically once you switch auto-publish on. Automatic publishing goes through the official WordPress plugin. The sales page lists more platforms, but WordPress is the one I'd plan around today.

The engine also includes a Backlink Exchange: you earn credits by giving links to other members' sites, and you spend them to receive links, priced by Domain Rating. It's a nice extra, but the network is still growing, so treat it as a bonus rather than a link strategy.

SEO Buddy is refreshingly honest about quality. Its own FAQ says the articles are "briefed better than most freelance work" and are "not going to win a prize". That matches what I'd expect: solid, well-structured articles on topics you can actually rank for, which you should still read before they go out.

Reddit Marketing: The Threads Google Already Ranks

This is the product I found most interesting, and also the newest. Ask Google almost any buying question and there's a good chance a Reddit thread sits on page one. SEO Buddy measured this across 9,083 Google first pages from its customers' keyword research: 47.6% carried a Reddit thread, and three in four of those threads were in the top three results.

It finds threads by traffic, not by recency. Most Reddit tools watch for new posts that mention a keyword. Reddit Marketing works the other way round: it takes your keyword research, checks Google's first page, and lists the threads that already rank. Each one gets a "readers a month" estimate based on search volume and the click-through rate for its position. A thread with 40,000 monthly searches behind it is worth far more than a fresh post nobody will ever find.

It's not just Reddit. The same scan spots posts on 11 platforms: Reddit, YouTube, Facebook, LinkedIn, Wikipedia, Quora, Pinterest, Instagram, TikTok, X and wikiHow. By SEO Buddy's numbers, 74.5% of first pages had a post from one of them.

The replies are written to survive moderators. A draft takes about 20 seconds. It reads the post and its existing replies, answers in your chosen tone, includes a disclosure that you work on the product, names an alternative where one fits, and contains no links. You also get a private message draft for the original poster, and the format adapts per platform, down to a Talk page note for Wikipedia. It never posts for you and never asks for your Reddit password, which is exactly how it should be.

A work queue tracks every thread through New, Saved, Drafted, Replied, Archived or Not relevant. If you want the strategy side before you start, the free Reddit Marketing Guide covers account warm-up, which threads to answer, comments that convert and how to recover from removals.

Link Building Campaign: Outreach Without the Subscription

Outreach tools are usually priced for agencies, at around $200 a month and up. The Link Building Campaign tool is pay-per-use from a prepaid balance that never expires, and you see the cost of each step before you run it.

Two ways to find prospects. Link insertion reads Google's top 100 for a keyword and keeps pages that mention your topic without being about it, which are ideal for a contextual link. Skyscraper takes the top 10 pages for a keyword in up to five countries and pulls every site linking to them. In SEO Buddy's own example, one keyword in one country returned 834 linking sites for $0.36. Competitors, forums, social sites and Wikipedia are filtered out, and you can set a minimum Domain Rating.

Emails are found, never guessed. Addresses are read from the pages themselves and their contact pages. If a site doesn't publish one, it's skipped, with an optional contacts database lookup. That keeps bounce rates down, which matters because the emails go out from your own mailbox.

Sending is deliberately conservative. Three emails on your delays, and a reply stops the rest. By default it sends 40 emails per mailbox per day, on weekdays, with one-click unsubscribe, bounce suppression and an automatic halt if the mailbox fails. The review screen shows the full cost, the mailbox and the daily limits in one place. SEO Buddy's example campaign found 73 opportunities and 44 contacts for $1.80 all in.

The trade-off is that you do the grown-up email work yourself: SPF, DKIM and DMARC on your domain, and a sensible pitch. There's no built-in CRM or inbox warm-up.

Guest Blog Database: Prices on the Page

Anyone who has bought guest posts knows the drill: email a site owner, wait three days, get a price, negotiate, repeat. The Guest Blog Database skips that with 113,357 sites across 69 countries and 98 languages, each with a price on the listing.

Search is free. Open a free account, no card needed, and filter by Domain Rating, traffic, maximum price, spam score, 24 topics, country and language. There are 41,832 sites at DR30 or higher, and placements start at $20. Domains are only masked on the public sales page.

Ordering is simple. Shortlist sites per project, give your anchor text and target URL, and either send your own article or have one written for $1. The live URL appears in your order history, and most links go live in two to three days.

Competitor backlinks is the clever part. Point it at a competitor and it pulls the top 1,000 sites linking to them, then flags the ones you can buy a placement on. Your first competitor is free. It also hides sites that are already free in the Link Chest, so you don't pay for a link you could get yourself.

Two cautions. This is a paid-links marketplace, and SEO Buddy says so openly, so weigh Google's link-scheme guidelines before you buy. And listings don't show whether a link is dofollow, while a few very high-DR, very cheap listings are user pages on large platforms rather than editorial guest posts. Check traffic and the site itself before ordering. Once an order is paid, it can't be pulled back.

Link Chest: The Easy Wins, Organised

The Link Chest is SEO Buddy's oldest product, and it does one job: it saves you the days of searching for the directories, review sites, business listings, communities and launch sites where a new website can earn its first links.

2,454 opportunities, each with the details that matter. Domain Rating, traffic, spam risk, dofollow status (48% are dofollow) and a difficulty level from 1 to 5. Most are free to submit to, and 500+ have step-by-step guides with screenshots.

It's built for delegating. Each project tracks every opportunity through Untouched, To submit, Submitted and Live, with notes, screenshot proof, a store for your submission assets and assignment to a teammate or VA. That makes it a good fit for handing to an assistant for a few hours a week.

Be realistic about what these links are: foundation links for a new site, not the links that move a competitive keyword. They matter most below about DR30. SEO Buddy's own pages recommend working through 10 to 25 a month.

What's Missing

Publishing beyond WordPress. Automatic publishing works through the WordPress plugin. If your blog runs on Webflow, Shopify or another platform, check the status of that connector before you rely on auto-publish.

Alerts for new Reddit threads. Reddit Marketing finds threads that already rank on Google. It isn't a real-time listening tool, so it won't ping you when someone posts a fresh question in your niche. It also judges relevance at the keyword level, so the occasional off-topic thread slips in. It only launched this month, so I expect this area to move quickly.

One-click mailbox connection. Outreach connects over IMAP and SMTP. It works, but a Google sign-in would make setup faster for less technical users.

A single pricing page. Each product has its own pricing on its own page. That's fair, because you only buy what you use, but it would be nice to see everything in one place before committing.

None of these is a like-for-like competitor, and that's the point. Surfer is the stronger pure content optimisation tool, Respona has a deeper outreach CRM, and Redreach automates more of the Reddit side. But to cover what SEO Buddy covers, you'd be stacking three or four subscriptions. If you want content, Reddit visibility and links handled from one account, SEO Buddy is hard to beat on price.

Who Should Get This

Founders and small business owners who know they need SEO but don't have the time to become SEO experts will get the most out of this. The AI Content Engine's $1 trial is the easiest way to see if the research and writing fit your site.

SaaS and ecommerce teams whose buyers ask questions on Reddit should try Reddit Marketing. Knowing which threads Google sends thousands of readers to, and having a disclosed reply drafted in 20 seconds, is a genuinely new workflow.

Freelancers and small agencies will like the pay-per-use outreach and the priced guest post inventory, since they can pass costs straight to a client without carrying another monthly subscription.

That said, if you already have a content team and a dedicated outreach tool you're happy with, you may only need one piece, such as the Guest Blog Database or Reddit Marketing. And if your blog isn't on WordPress, check the publishing connector for your platform first.

Verdict

SEO Buddy is the most complete small-business SEO toolkit I've seen at this price. Instead of one more keyword tool that hands you a spreadsheet, it goes after the whole job: deciding what to write and writing it, finding the Reddit threads Google already ranks, and getting links through outreach, a priced guest post marketplace and a curated list of easy wins.

The AI Content Engine's research funnel and the Reddit Marketing thread finder are the standouts. Both work from data about what people actually search for, and both are careful in the right places: a boundary for what you don't sell, disclosed replies with no links, and nothing posted without you. Pay-per-use outreach and free search on 113,357 guest post sites make the link building side unusually accessible.

WordPress-only auto-publishing, a Reddit tool that's weeks old and a few rough edges in the link products keep it from a 9. But for a founder or small team who wants content, visibility and links from one account, starting at $1, SEO Buddy is well worth a trial.
